How to Report an Outage at my Business

At Gibson EMC, we work diligently to deliver reliable electricity at the lowest cost possible. We continually invest dollars and resources in our physical electric system. The result is greater system reliability and a system well prepared for growth.

Despite our best efforts, there still may be times when you experience an interruption in your service. If this happens, please call us at 1-800-977-4076. Our staff stands ready to receive your call 24-hours, seven days a week, 365 days a year. Our state-of-the-art outage management and voice recognition system also answers when there are large numbers of incoming calls.  

Please be prepared to provide our dispatcher or our outage management system with:

  • the telephone number for the location of the outage,

  • your business’s account number (if you know it),

  • your business’s service address,

  • your name and contact information, and

  • any other pertinent information.  For example, if you saw a downed electric line or if you heard a loud noise just prior to the outage, this information will enable us to better understand the nature of the problem and restore your service more quickly.

We encourage you to call us as soon as you experience an outage so that we can restore your electric service quickly. But you should know that Gibson EMC’s Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) System, with equipment stationed strategically throughout our physical electric system, constantly monitors electric load and other activity and alerts us to potential problems. SCADA is also integrated with our outage management system, enabling us to more quickly restore your service.
